The Diocese of Sacramento will release the
LIST OF THOSE CREDIBILY ACCUSED of abusing children and young people, from the past 50 years, in a couple of weeks. The process is with the assistance of a consulting firm recognized as the best there is at tackling this task and ensuring that dioceses live up to their promises of accountability. The list will include the following:
Name Date & nature of abuse Birthday Last location Country of origin States of employment Parish assignments Date reported to the diocese Number of victims Gender & age of abused
The focus at this time is on children 18 or younger (at the time of the abuse) and vulnerable adults. The Bishop’s letter will be release via the news media, and the Catholic Herald. Please refer to the Letter from Bishop Jaime Soto I posted on October 18, 2018 in my column on our website.
The month of
April is Child Abuse Protection Month. Our parish will be organizing a rosary novena after daily mass.
Please be aware and familiar with the resources below from the Diocese and County level and the policies that are in place in the Diocese of Sacramento:
Safe Environment: background checks, safe haven, circle of grace, annual audit for compliance, independent review board.
Reportinghotline (1-866-777- 9133). When reported, the diocese immediately calls law enforcement who takes over and makes the determinations, the bishop is informed, and he removes the person from ministry.
