As you may be aware, there are a number of studies which indicate that children are suffering from loneliness and depression in this Covid-induced time of isolation. In an effort to bridge the gap, we are reaching out to parishioners asking for pen-pal “Angels”, conversing with our 42 students via mail through the Saint Joseph Church Cares for Childrenprogram.
Please note that this is not intended as a gift giving program, but rather a personal connection. Should you desire to give something to your student, please understand that it MUST fit in your envelope as we cannot mail packages. For this reason, gift certificates are suggested if you want to give a gift.
A tag-filled tree with the first names and grades of children participating in the program will be outside the rectory back-door starting on Wednesday, December 9.
Simply choose a tag and fill in your information next to the child’s name.
You may keep the tag or dispose of it.
When your correspondence is ready, in an envelope with the student’s first name, drop it off in the plastic box outside the rectory.
Your message will be mailed to your student.
Your student will reply to you in the same manner, by dropping his/her note for you in the box, and it will be mailed to you.
Please be aware that for safety and privacy, last names nor addresses can be exchanged.
Before the end of this year, we will have a Zoom Meet & Greet for ALL participants so faces can be connected to first names.
Thank you for your support!
